FAMILY ROOTS
Work in progress. Work in research.
For over eight decades, my family has been living in the same place, which was once a dry orchard with carob trees. However, something that I know is that some trees have stood here time before any of us. I wonder why this place is called “my home” and not theirs. These trees and their roots likely have a deeper connection to the land, and know more about my family than I do.
The project intends to bring these entities to the spotlight, I want to acknowledge the significance of these trees that silently coexist with us, and I want to bring to the front row their narrative. I’m intrigued by nature’s ability to quietly vanish and reappear, showing us the cycle of life and our insignificance.
These trees are the custodians of our shared narrative.
